The position of Career Advisor is responsible for providing individual career advising and developing programming to support undergraduate student career development needs within the Gatton College of Business & Economics. Primary career development topics will include career assessment, career exploration, internship and job search strategies, and career decision-making. The Career Advisor will serve as a career specialist across multiple academic majors within the Gatton College of Business & Economics to assist undergraduate students in preparing to compete for internships, professional employment, and admission into graduate school. This will include the development of selected materials, services or programs (career forums, workshops, networking events) to help undergraduate students identify the range of career options and job opportunities. The Career Advisor will plan, implement, and conduct outreach workshops, presentations, and programs to educate and inform undergraduate students, faculty members, staff members, and administrators about career programs, services, internships, undergraduate research programs, and other applied-learning opportunities. The Career Advisor will also serve as the Marketing Manager of the office by supervising the undergraduate student employees of the office and promoting our services to students in the College. This includes developing and promoting programming the Graham Office puts on for the student population.
Perform other duties (as assigned by supervisor and/or higher authority) to ensure the success of career services on behalf of UK, the Gatton College of Business & Economics, and the Graham Office of Career Management.
A graduate degree in counseling, higher education, business or related fiend is highly preferred. At least three years of relevant experience. Preferred credentials include certification in counseling as well as with career assessment tools such as the MBTI and SII.
