Set on a 179ha site, alongside 2km of south facing Thames river frontage, the area is growing to become a vibrant neighbourhood of over 10,000 homes.
We now have a new opportunity for an enthusiastic Community & Events Manager to join L&Q as part of our Barking Riverside team.
As our Community & Events Manager you will make a major contribution to our Barking community managing our commercial tenants and planning and promoting events and activities at the Community Centre, related sports facilities, and other assets such as play parks and play equipment. The role will also focus upon the growth of commercial income generation through the hire of our facilities.
Duties will include:
· Organising, managing and promoting community centre events and activities
· Building lasting relationships with the community
· Relationship building and working hard to build positive links with the users of the community centre
· Introducing new and innovative processes in a community centre setting in order to enhance usability and efficiency.
· Deliver safe operational practices and the maintenance of the centre
· Being a strong team player
· Being able to undertake a variety of tasks to ensure the centre is vibrant and dynamic – this could involve everything from social media promotion of the centre to attending other community events to promote the Rivergate Centre.
· Experience of centre management and community engagement, retail, commercial operations and business acumen would be advantageous
· Excellent organisational, administration and planning skills
· Ability to Manage Budgets and is IT Literate
· High level of communication skills with customers and key stakeholders
· Experience of event management
· Team Management experience
· Social Media Marketing
· Common sense and can deal with everyone in a fair manner

Barking Riverside London is a joint venture between the Mayor of London and L&Q to deliver a quality led new riverfront town in East London comprising of 10,800 homes, a new rail station, new schools and commercial and cultural offerings along 2km of south-facing Thames river frontage. As Master Developer Barking Riverside is responsible for taking forward and coordinating all aspects of the design and development process as well as implementing the infrastructure works to transform the former power station site into a high quality development and help build a thriving, healthy community.
