Do you have a talent for leading small-scale construction projects, enjoy working with people and want to have a positive impact on local communities in London? Our client, Build Up, are looking for freelance Construction Staff to join their team.
You’ll be joining a multi-award-winning charity that supports young people to shape their local area. On their construction projects, young people learn practical skills as they design and build permanent, high-quality and accessible spaces for local communities.
What we are looking for:
This role would suit someone with practical construction experience in construction, carpentry, set building, landscaping/gardening, or a related field. You have the enthusiasm and patience to support young people, although previous youth work experience is not essential.
Reporting to the Construction Lead, you’ll work with our team to build projects, while supporting work placement and volunteer staff on site. When young people are on site, you’ll teach them construction skills and help everyone get involved.
Our client puts young people in control of building public and community spaces like Build Up Hackney. Their work helps young people make decisions about their local area and become skilled, capable and confident citizens. Past projects include a bike repair workshop, outdoor classrooms, and playgrounds. The quality of Build Up’s spaces is important, as is using accessible methods and considered construction details to create structures worthy of the communities they serve.
Please tell us if you have:
• Paid or voluntary experience working in local communities, with young people or in a training/development capacity
