Are you an experienced Engagement Lead or Activities coordinator used to working with the elderly community in a residential and nursing care setting?  Nightingale Hammerson is an OUTSTANDING provider of relationship centred care for the elderly Jewish community. We have an established home in South West London and a brand new home in North London, due to open in April / May 2021. 

We have opportunities for two Engagement Leads to join our wider Activities team. One opportunity will be primarily based in Hammerson House (North London) one will be based across our two sites, Hammerson House and Nightingale House (South West London).

The purpose of the role is to provide a holistic and resident centred, integrated engagement programme including Activities for Daily Living (ADL) for residents with varying needs including those living with dementia. You’ll work collaboratively with a wider care team of Healthcare Assistants, Nurses, our in-house occupational therapy, other Engagement Leads, volunteers and residents famitlies to create, plan and deliver stimulating engagement for our residents. You’ll be a champion for our Relationship Centred Care (RCC) approach across the organisation, representing our values whilst creatively enhancing our residents wellbeing. 

You’ll be an experienced healthcare professional with good knowledge of the engagement needs of the most vulnerable to ensure each resident is supported in leading a meanfulful lives. You’ll be able to utlalise and develop tools such as the Namaste Programme, Dementia Care Mapping and the Occupational Therapy Tool Kit, assessing and reviewing cares needs as required. 

Essentials we’ll need from you

Degree, OT qualification or NVQ 3 or above in Activity Engagement or equivalent experience
Experience and understanding of working with older people, people living with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia with varying abilities and needs.
Experience of working and managing volunteers on a day to day basis.
Experience of working with relatives and carers of residents.
Experience of planning, implementing and reviewing a creative, resourceful and innovative engagement  programme in collaboration with the Health Care/Therapy Teams
Experience of monitoring and evaluating activities (Including partnership projects with other stakeholders/intergenerational work)
Ability to lead, motivate others inspire and implement new ideas.
Ability to work flexibly and to adapt skills to meet the assessed needs of residents.
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, including residents living with dementia.
Ability to effectively contribute to and work as part of a team. In the context of a multi-disciplinary approach to the care of residents.
IT Literacy and organisational skills to maintain appropriate records connected to the functions of the post.
Ability to work variable hours as required. There is an expectation that the post holder will work outside of normal office hours (9.00a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Monday to Friday) and on Sundays as necessary.
