About the job Summary
The FSA is a non-ministerial department of over 1300 people, with a big vision – to drive change in the food system so that it delivers “food we can trust”. More than 90% of food and feed law in the UK currently comes from Europe and our primary goal is to continue to protect public health and UK consumers’ wider interest in food. As we have now exited the EU the FSA faces a significant period of change and activity.
Job description
The Agency’s Northern Ireland office operates adjacent to the FSA in Britain and Wales, and as such takes on a lot of important duties separately from the wider organisation. This means that it is particularly important that we offer all teams working within the Northern Ireland office robust support to enable them to get their work done and continue to protect the health of those in Northern Ireland and the wider UK.
Supporting policy areas across the Northern Ireland office, the Executive Support Officer is integral to the smooth running of our operations. The demands of the role are deeply varied and entail a wide range of activities from drafting copy for colleagues and our website to providing support at stakeholder events and team meetings.
Candidates will liaise with colleagues in every area of the FSA’s Northern Irish remit, as well as external stakeholders including authorities in the Republic of Ireland, regarding cross-border food, feed and environmental incidents. From data management to the creation of product recall notices, Executive Support Officers are actively involved in helping the FSA run smoothly, protecting the food and health of the nation.
Candidates will need to be motivated and organised individuals who can manage their priorities to deliver against a number of concurrent targets whilst working at pace. Working closely with colleagues throughout the Agency, you’ll need to be a strong communicator who can make a lasting impact. Strong IT skills are a must.
