The division of Pediatric Genetics and Metabolism is seeking a Nurse Team Leader to manage daily clinic flow, provide direct patient care, as well as day to day oversight of nursing and clinical staff.
In addition, this position will work closely with the division chief and providers to create, maintain, and implement clinical protocols and procedures to ensure continuity of care.
The Nurse Team Leader will work closely with the Practice Manager and Nurse Clinical Manager, Senior to operationalize ambulatory clinic issues, nursing directives, scheduling templates, protocols, and staffing models.
This role will also serve as single point of contact for the Eastern KY Newborn Screening Program.
Distribute newborn screening referrals and follow up labs from the State to the appropriate Pediatric division, and make arrangements for clinical follow up and management of newborn screening referrals according to protocol for the division of Metabolism.
Serve as adviser for KY Newborn Screening Task Force and the KY Newborn Screening Laboratory. Provide education for healthcare professionals, medical students, house staff, patients, and their families regarding newborn screening and metabolic disease management.
Coordinate division activities to meet the needs of the metabolic patient, referring physicians, and contract work for the State.
Maintain up to date knowledge of newborn screening and metabolic disease, national changes in disease management, and legislation that might impact these areas of focus. Responsible for closing referral cases and maintaining accurate records for data reporting.
