The RoleDepop is on the hunt for a Principal Android Engineer to join our growing engineering team. You’ll be working in partnership with our cross-functional teams, architecting, driving best-practice, and working to provide a better technical environment for our Android Engineers, while contributing to the vision and long-term strategy within Android.Our codebase is Kotlin, we apply strong architecture principles and automation is applied in many aspects of our release pipeline, giving us more time to work on features whilst celebrating a new version of our app every week.Want to find out more about Depop & our engineering team? Taking an active part in sprint planning meetings, when necessary.Review and improve existing code to leverage the latest developments in the Android framework.Maintain a healthy curiosity towards other Android apps and champion ideas on ways to improve.Provide coaching and mentoring for engineers of all levels.Represent the company at internal and external events, including meet-ups, conferences, and webinars.Help attract great talent and participate in hiring.RequirementsIdeally BA/BS degree in Computer Science, related technical field or equivalent practical experience.A wealth of experience in various industries, working on greenfield projects and rearchitecting existing mobile applications.Proven experience in working in partnership with teams to promote best practice across Android Development.An ability to fully understand a product and business goals, which you can translate into a technical solution.Experience with owning quality throughout the entire SDLC, from development to after release in order to monitor performance. Experience with Mobile Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.Solid knowledge of Entity-Relational databases, specifically SQLite”.Technical knowledge of mobile application development in Android with experience producing apps that feature a fast, consistent and non-blocking user experience.Demonstrable experience of new technologies and know when it’s appropriate to use them.Heavy utilisation of the Android support and design libraries.Experience in consuming RESTful APIs.DesirableKnowledge of image downloading and caching libraries such as Picasso or Glide.Understanding of ProGuard and Gradle to ensure that our build tools deliver the correct result.
