Our client, a well-established outsourced accounting firm whose operations across the globe have spanned two and a half decades, are seeking a Commercial Accountant to support their Croydon-based business in their next phase of growth.
As the Senior Accountant, you will devote your time to providing accounting services to the top names of the hospitality industry and to developing and maintaining a rapport with such clients.
The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate commercial and operational awareness by offering practical advice on their business accounts and finances, from a strategic perspective, managing their annual budgets to VAT returns.
Main duties and responsibilities
Establish and nurture client relations to ensure longevity and instil confidence in the relationship
Prepare and adhere to annual budgets
Liaise with various internal teams including, but not limited to:
Accounts preparation
Payroll
Audit
Compliance
IT and Process development
Forecast and manage cashflow to be able to present projections
Ensure compliance with all relevant confidentiality policies and legislation
Interact with stakeholders, investors and select operational teams
Outline and present management accounts on a weekly and monthly basis
Operate IT programmes to maximise efficiency and maintain accurate records
Oversee the training and development of team members
Collate the relevant information for, and submit, VAT returns
Key Skills
Advanced accounting ability
Proficiency using Excel and other Microsoft programmes
Demonstrable commercial awareness, ideally from exposure to the hospitality sector
Clear and effective communicator
Strategic planning and business management expertise

Experience required
Holds ACA or ACCA qualification with practical experience, relevant to the role
If partially ACCA qualified, the ideal candidate will have significant relevant experience
Previous participation in reporting on financial and strategic planning to senior
Proven experience in an accounting role
Prior involvement within the hospitality sector would be advantageous, but not essential
