About our team

Our team is a small, wide-reaching strategy team supporting both Group Transformation (the Group’s change function) and the Group Chief Information Office (CIO). The team provides innovative thinking and independent thought leadership across a range of strategic projects and has specific responsibility for defining the future operating model design principles across our technology and transformation capabilities.

As the Group progresses its strategy to further modernise our technology, the team will help navigate several key decision points on how to evolve the future CIO and change functions as well as the broader role of technology in fulfilment of our customer and business strategies.

About the role

We’re looking for someone to join as a Strategy Manager/Consultant to bring new, innovative thinking to the way we operate across the Group, with specific focus on technology and transformation. You’ll work collaboratively with the team to develop solutions for a range of business problems, drawing insight from both internal and external sources.

You’ll build relationships across the business to help shape operating model choices and you’ll have an outstanding opportunity to contribute towards defining the future target-state of the Group. You’ll act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders at all levels across the organisation and have significant visibility with the senior leadership team.

You’ll work in a fast paced area of the bank, so you’ll want to be comfortable working to tight timescales and operating with a level of ambiguity.

What background experience and skills we’re looking for:

Diversity of thought is important to how the team operates, and we would therefore welcome applications from people across a range of backgrounds. To succeed in this role, candidates should be able to demonstrate the following capabilities:

• Proven experience of working within either a strategy-based, business development or management consultancy role (preferably within Financial Services);
• Practical experience of designing and/or delivering changes to business operating models;
• Show a range of examples where you have used strategic thinking to build frameworks to interpret and solve complex problems;
• Highly-proficient at being able to articulate outputs for a senior executive level audience;
• Analytically minded, being comfortable using data and insight to support decision making.

In terms of personality and communication skills, you’ll need to be a clear communicator including being comfortable interacting with senior executives.

You’ll be a naturally curious self-starter, with a strong desire to learn from other colleagues and external stimulus as well as being an excellent teammate capable of delivering high-quality outputs.

In addition to the above, there are several desired capabilities which we would ideally like to see:

• Experience of working on a cloud-based transformation programme / an understanding of public cloud technologies and the broader business implications;
• An understanding of processes and practices carried out within a technology function or business;
• Awareness or experience of the scaled agile delivery framework (SAFe) and connected methodologies (e.g. DevOps / Site Reliability Engineering).
