Assistant Contracts Manager + bonus and benefits
Location: London, Paddington
35 hours per week
The Assistant Contracts manager supports the Head of Construction with the day to day management of the development projects and overseeing the construction process to ensure that high quality homes are produced efficiently and safely within set budgets and agreed timescales. Supporting the team to ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.
You will be supporting the Head of Construction to develop the initial appraisal programmes into detailed working programmes ahead of a start of a construction on site and develop and maintain the Construction Phase Health & Safety Plan and Risk Register alongside the Principle Designer/Employer’s Agent throughout the project. This may be in conjunction with our Principle Contractors or Joint venture partners.
You will review the specifications and construction drawings with our Technical department prior to them being issued to the contractors and work with the Commercial department to review tender lists and support the tender process.
In conjunction with the Commercial department you will carry out pre-contract checks on subcontractors and suppliers for the project. This may involve visits to other sites or factories in the UK.
In addition you will attend pre-contract and site meeting and manage the progress of sites, working with the Head of Construction and keep up to date records and report on budgets and forecast information regularly and keep managers and stakeholders up to date at all times.
What we are looking for
You must have a full clean driving licence
Experience of managing a number of construction projects up to a build value £75m each.
Experienced in working in a fast moving and changing environment requiring the ability to solve problems, plan and organise multiple projects and tasks and demonstrate commercial acumen.
Someone who drives continuous improvement and can lead small groups of internal staff who do not have a strong construction background.
An appropriate higher-level construction qualification Degree/HND or similar qualification.
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the construction industry, with 2 years in a management/supervisor role.
Proven experience of managing building projects at a senior level.
Ability to take ownership of complex construction issues and see them through to an agreed solution.
Ability to learn & take on challenges that may be outside of their day-to-day workload.
Proven experience of dealing with mixed tenure projects, including medium and high rise.
