About the role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and bright individual to join the Carbon Trust and strengthen our research and development programmes in offshore wind. If you have good project management skills as well as technical knowledge, especially with regards to offshore wind structural/mechanical engineering or similar expertise including from oil and gas, and an interest in helping develop the latest innovations in offshore wind technology, then we would like to hear from you.
You will be part of the Programmes and Innovation department, who works in project teams to deliver high quality, high impact advice to clients. The offshore wind team is a friendly and dedicated team within a relatively small company, based primarily in London but delivering work across the globe. We had a significant impact on the acceleration of the UK and international offshore wind markets, driven by our enthusiastic and knowledgeable team of experts. We learn and support our work within the team, and also in the wider Carbon Trust, and work closely with the energy systems and policy teams among others.
Through these topics, our team delivers cutting edge research and development in innovative technologies and solutions and accelerates cost reduction in offshore wind, overcomes market barriers, develops industry best practice and triggers the development of new industry standards.

The Carbon Trust provides innovative advice to governments and businesses around the world to support the global transition to a low carbon economy. We work closely with decision makers and implementers in key institutions in the UK and across multiple emerging and developing countries on low-carbon finance, programmes, policy and technology.
Main duties and responsibilities:
The main focus of this role is the day-to-day management of at least one technical research area with a primary focus on foundations. The successful candidate will organise and help manage the technical delivery groups responsible for the respective research areas. This involves frequent interaction with industry stakeholders, engagement with contractors and innovators, and responsibilities for the delivery of a number of R&D projects.

The successful candidate is expected to also work across the wider Carbon Trust to provide innovative advice to governments and businesses around the world to support the global transition to a low carbon economy.
Key skills we are looking for:
We are interested in hearing from junior to mid-level candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Background in structural/mechanical engineering and/or a track record working in O&G/offshore wind engineering with a knowledge of fixed/floating foundations
• Delivering multi-stakeholder projects either in a leading role or as part of a wider team
Technical project delivery
• Delivering technical outputs, either for external clients or in-house to achieve clear goals ideally within an offshore wind (or related) context
Offshore wind development
• Working with a range of stakeholders to support offshore wind development, or a related industry
Qualifications and experience:
• Experience in the offshore wind, or related, industry such as O&G is strongly preferred
• Degree educated, preferably in engineering or science subject, or in another subject backed up with relevant experience
Salary & Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary and a performance based bonus. Our hours are 37.5 per week with 28 days paid holiday plus bank holidays and a generous pension scheme.
