About the Department
SSE Enterprise Contracting is one of the UK’s largest Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) contractors with a product/service portfolio ranging from M&E LV, HV, Instrumentation, Street Lighting, Facilities Management through to Combined Heat and Power solutions.
What is the Role?
SSE Enterprise are looking to Employ two commissioning engineers to work on DNO Primary Substations preferably up to 132kV but in the main 33kV.
In this role, you’ll be working on new greenfield primary substations, ‘brown field’ projects, Transformer Replacement, Switchboard Replacement 33/11kV, Circuit Breaker Replacement either independent or as part of a project, Switchboard Extensions and the Decommissioning of existing substations.
Therefore, you’ll become involved with the Principal Designer on fully designed projects or with our nominated Design Engineers on Design and Build Projects from inception through to practical completion. You’ll need an excellent attention to detail, as you will verify, modify and issue schematic drawings as required to complete installations.
As a commissioning Engineer you’ll also become part of the project team working to SSEN Policies and Procedures. The Commissioning Engineer will represent SSE Enterprise Contracting during any interactions with SSEN during the delivery process to ensure that the projects are delivered on time and to budget.
What Do I Need?
To be successful in this role, you’ll have an HNC in Electrical Engineering with experience in commissioning electrical systems or an Electrical Trades NVQ. You’ll also have experience in: –
– Producing and executing the project commissioning and testing plan.
– LV & HV switching (Subject to Authorisation) and issuing of safety documentation.
– Commissioning HV Electrical Systems.
– RTS/SCADA control systems.
– Health and Safety Regulations.
– Electrical Fault Finding.
– Good understanding of HSQE requirements including CDM Regulations.
Previous use of Omicron CMC 365 test sets with their advanced protection package is not essential but would be advantageous. In addition, experience and/or understanding of the latest Argus / Toshiba / Eberle AVC Relays and Transformer Oil Temperature Probes would also be advantageous.
It would be preferable that you hold a current DNO Authorisation to accept safety documents.
Finally, it is an essential requirement for this role that you have a full, current driving licence.
