Who we are
Canada Life UK looks after the retirement, investment and protection needs of individuals, families and companies. We help to build better futures for our customers, our intermediaries and our employees by operating as a modern, agile and welcoming organisation.
Part of our parent company Great-West Lifeco, Canada Life UK has operated in the United Kingdom since 1903. We have hundreds of respected and supported employees committed to doing the right thing for our customers and colleagues.
Canada Life UK is transforming to create a more customer-focused business by providing our customers with expertise on financial and tax planning, offering home finance and annuities propositions, and providing collective fund solutions to third party customers.
Canada Life has an exciting opportunity for an experienced DevOps Engineer on the Release and Environment Team, working on automating release pipelines, environment provisioning and configuration, and test integration, to enable rapid robust delivery of quality software to our customers. We are looking for someone to push our DevOps capabilities forward to achieve our CICD objectives; this role is a crucial part in realising our vision.
You will be ensuring software is built, tested, versioned, packaged, configured, deployed and supported in the most efficient and effective way, liaising with both Software Development and IT Operations to understand how best to deliver. Automation will be a key focus; you will be working towards the objective of automating all steps required from a developer checking in a code change through to it being used in production. It’s important to us that you’re a strong communicator and team player.
Possessing excellent technical skills and lots of experience you have primarily worked on Azure cloud based infrastructure, in automated provisioning, configuration and deployments. You are keen to share your knowledge with the team and always looking for new tech or ways of working to resolve challenges on the team.
You will have at least 5 years’ experience of working in a DevOps role and be able to demonstrate an understanding of DevOps methodologies and proven experience of implementing them, largely being Azure cloud based. Experience working in an agile workplace, working across development and support teams will be very useful. It’s vital you have experience with scripting, continuous integration and deployment, Server configuration management and test integration, must-have a high degree of experience with Azure; Octopus; PowerShell.
Experience of the Financial Services industry is preferable, understanding the balance of well controlled changes against the ability to respond rapidly to change, but we are open to innovation and fresh ways to improve the way we work.

As a Canada Life UK colleague, you’ll receive a competitive salary and comprehensive reward package including income protection, private medical insurance and life assurance, along with a generous pension and bonus scheme. You’ll also receive the support you need with your personal and professional development.
