The Challenge
To help achieve our objective of equipping Defence with a smaller, more efficient and better-quality estate the Estates Department are seeking a motivated and suitably qualified B1 Deputy Head of Estates to lead our established Land Management Services (LMS) team and to deliver challenging and varied estate surveying projects for and expert advice to our customers.
The post will support the Head of Estates (1 Star/SCS 1) in delivering an efficient business service and ensuring strategic programme targets are met.
The Deputy Head role is to lead and manage their respective LMS team to ensure effective and efficient provision of a comprehensive land, estate and property management programme, and to provide advice and services to our customers. The work includes safeguarding, protection of key military assets, production of Byelaws and management of the Training Estate and landlord and tenant work.
As Deputy Head of LMS the successful candidate will be expected to be a customer focussed leader with a sound professional background and relevant experience. Excellent communication skills are vital as our customers, in most cases, will not be property specialists.
The position will hold Line Management responsibility for staff located within the Southern region of the UK and as such travel to these sites will be required on a regular basis.
Post Location
The post will be located within one of our UK based offices, which will be agreed and confirmed with the successful candidates once they have been selected.
Our UK DIO Offices are spread throughout the country. Our main locations are based at Andover, London, Wyton/Huntingdon, Sutton Coldfield, Catterick and Rosyth. Smaller sites are also spread throughout the country. All sites will be considered but whilst ensuring the location of the successful candidate can still meet the business and travel requirements of the role.

The post will require travel throughout the UK and potentially to our Overseas locations.
