About The Job

Provides direct patient care under the supervision of a RN and or LPN in the ER setting.  Performs general nursing assistant duties and able to work with the age specific populations according to the age and setting.

Registers patients in the Emergency Department and Registration area, enters charges and completes hospital-required paperwork.  Assists in Medical-Surgical and SDS/Operating Room area as needed and training completed.

What We Are Looking For

Education:

High school graduate or GED required

Successful completion of a Nurse Aide Course – Certification preferred

State of Iowa nurses aide registry listing as “Active” or eligible preferred

Experience

Previous experience as nurse’s aid in a hospital setting preferred

Minimum of one year post high school business education or one year experience in an office setting preferred   

Special Skills, Competencies, and Aptitudes

Must provide proof of Basic Life Support- American Heart Association (BLS) Healthcare Provider or HealthStream Heart Code) or American Red Cross (Professional Rescuer) via current card prior to employment.

Maintains current certification in BLS

Complete Mandatory Reporting requirement within 6 months of hire and renews

Mandatory Reporting requirement every 5 years

Experience with computer software and willingness to learn new software (Excel,  

Microsoft, Healthland, Powerchart, etc.)

Detail oriented, requires numerical, clerical, and organizational skills and the ability to perform mathematical calculations and complete patient records.

Ability to work flexible hours
