One of the UK’s most well-known retail brands is looking to recruit a Data Science Graduate Analyst to help deploy the pricing strategy, and to provide support for the development, maintenance and delivery of new business and renewal pricing models for their insurance products.
More specifically, you will report into the Pricing Manager and you will be working on either motor or home insurance products.
They have flexible working, and due to their national reach, your office location could be in London, Buckinghamshire, Cheshire or Edinburgh with ideally a couple of days a week in the office. That said, they are very flexible and would even consider fully remote working if desired.
1-2 days a month you will be required to go in to their Edinburgh office (travel expenses paid for)
Your new role
key responsibilities of the role…
You will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring pricing of insurance products to achieve the growth and profitability ambitions they have, which will be delivered by working collaboratively with the Pricing Manager, the Data enrichment team, wider company colleagues and external partners to offer optimum prices, commissions and product journeys for their customers whilst delivering the company’s key objectives.
You will take day to day responsibility for the maintenance, the continual development and application of statistical models to optimise retail prices to achieve the desired outcomes. The strategy deployed will leverage benefits from data enrichment gained from the unique data sources they own, and engagement and long-term relationship building with Underwriters.
You will have key responsibility for implementing and testing the Underwriters’ rates to maintain competitive position of the company’s panel. You will also be integral in supporting the process for delivering the required sales and profit target through management of the pricing levers within the company’s control.
You will be working closely with the Data Enrichment team and Platform management teams to implement changes to our Retail Pricing functionality.
Working closely with the Data Science team, you will provide ongoing support in the development of Price Optimisation solutions and test and deploy solutions provided. In addition, you will understand and advise on other key elements of the insurance journey by constructing propensity models for marketing, ancillary products and bad debt and/or fully utilising models developed by the Data Science team.
They have built their own software in Python, and these roles will provide support in both maintenance and continual development of it.
What you’ll need to succeed
To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you will have a minimum of a 2:1 in a statistical degree, coupled with a minimum of a B in A-Level Maths, and you will an experienced user of Excel.
Due to the nature of the role and its wide exposure to Data Science (and insurance products), you will have good knowledge of either Python (preferred) or R, and have the aptitude to learn and pick up the other skills needed for the role. If you have any previous experience in an analytical role (perhaps even a year’s internship) this would be advantageous

What you’ll get in return
A competitive base salary of between £25,000 up to c. £35,000 DoE (possibly higher) with an excellent benefits package that includes bonus potential of up to 20%, and a pension of 7.5% matched by the company.
