Justerini & Brooks private clients are the global elite, many of whom spend over £50k per annum with J&B (and some over £1m). As such they demand a luxury experience at every touch point in J&B. The international fine wine and luxury spirits markets are competitive and demanding. The focus for J&B is to continually develop our service in line with client needs. The aim is to beat the competition and to develop long-standing client and supplier relationships by ensuring we offer market leading advice, stock and service to our customers.
Justerini & Brooks also has a dedicated on-trade division which supplies wines and spirits to restaurants, bars, hotels and catering companies. There is also a sales channel specifically focused on supplying wines and spirits, including its house whisky J&B Rare, to the off trade throughout the UK. The global fine wine and collectable whisky markets are complex, as is the UK on and off-trade market for wine and spirits. Each of these sales channels produce their own challenges that need to be managed within the business. The organisational structure and culture needed to be successful suited to succeed in luxury, and with an average 20% GM is very different from the challenges faced in wider Diageo.
c) Leadership Responsibilities
A newly created role that will lead the overall Operations function in support of J&B’s performance ambition. Working closely with the Finance & Operations Director to set the functions strategic ambition and thereafter embed and deliver it operationally.
The role will lead the Customer Service, Credit Control and Logistics teams (with 9 direct reports and 5 indirect). The role will seek to deliver an exemplary customer service at every touch point, whilst embedding a strong control environment in support of J&B’s overall compliance agenda.
The role will be the lead in business partnering with the J&B commercial organisation and work cross functionally to seek out process improvement and drive out costs. This is a leadership role that will nurture and develop our people whilst championing diversity & Inclusion.
