The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is responsible for welfare, pensions and child maintenance policy. As the UK’s biggest public service department it administers the State Pension and a range of working age, disability and ill health benefits to around 22 million claimants and customers, making 730 million payments a year totalling £180 billion.

As a result, we are currently hiring into our People and Capability Function which is part of a wider HR Profession across Government, offering varied and interesting career paths right across the Civil Service. The roles in People Services are Centre of Expertise roles. They involve developing and communicating on issues of People-related policies which impact all of our 85,000 employees. Their work involves working across the Civil Service with other experts to ensure that our policies and practices meet our business needs and align with Employment Law and best practice. They handle reward issues and pay negotiations, they manage our contracts and links into payroll and pensions, they provide expertise on Wellbeing, Inclusion and Health and Safety, they manage our Complex Casework Service for Line Managers.
Resource Account Management roles; where you work with one or more client business area in an Account Management arrangement to provide expert advice to customers in their client business area on complex resourcing issues which informs decisions about resourcing plans and strategies and keeps the Department compliant in its resourcing approaches and activity. This role involves building effective working relationships with a network of stakeholders through influencing, challenging and advising to ensure that there is a clear, affordable and deliverable workforce plan for the client business area.
Campaign Management roles; working to attract and select a diverse field of suitable candidates for roles across DWP. They build key relationships with agents and suppliers, bringing external best practice and innovative approaches. They run recruitment campaigns and provide expert advice to others on running successful recruitment campaigns
Capability, Learning and Talent
Capability Learning and Talent leads the agenda to create a culture of continuous learning and inclusivity to enable us to build flexible skillsets and respond to our ever-changing context. This is a key area of the Department’s People Strategy. Our roles in this area include Learning Design & Delivery, Personal & Professional Learning and Talent. The Grade 7 Leadership roles in this group are therefore varied. They influence and work collaboratively with senior stakeholders developing strategy, a leadership development offers, drive professional capability, and lead the design and delivery of learning for all of DWP to enable effective delivery of services to our customers.
HR Business Partners are often seen as the public face of People and Capability Group. They are leaders and partners to strategic decision makers across DWP, working collaboratively with senior leaders and their management teams to support, drive and enable organisational transformation including cultural shifts.
They enable and utilise evidence-based decision making in the business they partner using data, insight and analytics to identify key people issues and support the implementation of solutions. They provide constructive challenge to enable the best possible people focused outcomes whilst delivering a highly professional service.

It would also be beneficial if you hold a CIPD qualification or other relevant people management/L&D qualification or are willing to work towards one
