Harrow School is situated in Harrow on the Hill, northwest London, and is one of the best-known schools in the world. Around 830 boys’ study at Harrow and live in the School’s 12 boarding houses. Harrow School are seeking to recruit a Kitchen Porter to join their busy Catering department. The team provides a high standard of food for boys aged between 13 and 18 years, teachers and staff, and for School conferences and functions. The Kitchen Porter performs manual tasks to maintain a clean and orderly workplace. Work involves maintaining a clean kitchen environment, washing dining and kitchen items and utensils, and thorough cleaning of equipment and facilities to conform to proper hygiene standards.
Applicants should have experience of working in a similar role, although training will be given. Candidates must have good standards of personal presentation and the ability to work flexible hours (including weekends and evenings). Heavy lifting and standing for long periods will be a necessary requirement of the role, as well as the ability to speak and understand English, so that they are able to accurately follow health and safety instructions. A full driving licence held for at least six months is required as the postholder must drive to different sites on the School estate as needed.
