Learning and Development Manager, Derby, 3 days a week.
Porterbrook Leasing Company specialises in the leasing and asset management of passenger and freight railway rolling stock and associated equipment. Based in Derby with a corporate Head Office in London, the organisation is undertaking a period of transformational change as it responds to the changing landscape in rail and is taking an active lead in the industry in terms of innovation. Reporting to the Head of HR, the Learning and Development Manager will lead the delivery of the learning and development strategy for Porterbrook to ensure that all staff are developed to reach their full potential. This is whilst ensuring that all the necessary frameworks are in place to support a high-performance culture and the organisational values. The role will support the business in its aspiration to become a Platinum accredited Investors in People organisation. Key elements of the role will include the creation of a competency framework, initiatives to embed the organisational values and behaviours, team building programmes and soft skills training. In addition, the role holder will design, develop and deliver training initiatives to meet the development needs arising from personal development plans. Measuring the success of training initiatives will also be an important part of the role.
The ideal candidate will hold a degree or equivalent in education, human resources or a related field with appropriate membership of an accredited body, ideally CIPD; and be accredited in the delivery and analysis of psychometric testing. Experience of using a HRIS such as PeopleHR would also be helpful.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a track record in building learning and development strategies along with designing and executing successful training programmes, including programmes for those with high potential, management and leadership development and soft skills, and be able to deliver a programme of blended learning.
Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively is required. Along with excellent presentation and public speaking skills to complement your written presentation skills. A background in rail or engineering would be a distinct advantage.
