This position will support our Mouse Genome Modification Core Facility at Maine Medical Center Research Institute. Responsibilities will include basic molecular biology techniques such as genotyping, establishing and validation of PCR protocols, and assisting in tasks related to gene targeting studies using CRISPR/Cas. In addition, this individual will assist in maintaining mouse colonies, and be trained in basic mouse husbandry and procedures. The successful candidate will be highly organized, dependable, able to solve problems, and be motivated to learn and implement new skills. Excellent writing and communication skills required.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
Experience: 1 + years of relevant experience.
Demonstrated ability above that of a Research Assistant I.
Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and work effectively.
Visual acuity, manual dexterity, math skills and a scientific acumen are required.
