Assessment: Based on patient assessment, develops, implements, and evaluates plan of patient care
Patient Advocate: Protects patient from potential injury, and contamination of sterile field
Daily Assignments: Completes assignments including restocking of supplies and straightening of operating room for next use
Responsible for completion of maintenance duties as listed per weekend policy by Monday morning or by the first day following the holiday
Documentation: Accurate and complete documentation of nursing care and interventions on appropriate and required records.
Customer Service: Monitors customer service through assessment and evaluation. Recommends and implements action for improving.
Management: Coaches and assists team members in preparation, use and maintenance of operating room, supplies, and equipment.
Care of Specimens: Identifies and preserves specimens according to established procedures.
Performance Competency: Maintains performance competency by attending required in-service annual review, earns at least 8 contact hours per year, 2 of which must be trauma related.
Regulation: Adheres to NMHS/NMMC Policies/Procedures/Guidelines
Complies with applicable Local/State/Federal policies/procedures/guideline/regulations/laws/statues
Requirements: Associate’s Degree in Nursing; required
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Mississippi; required
Certified with American Heart Association (AHA) in CPR ACLS, PALS and TNCC.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in circulating nurse role; preferred
Completion of Nursing Orientation (3 to 6 months); required
Demonstrated competency of skills necessary to provide nursing care of patients ranging from neonate to geriatrics undergoing surgical interventions
Must have knowledge and skills to operate computer software/hardware; required
Must complete RN orientation and approved unit specific checklist
Must maintain department requirements for continuing education and any specific unit requirements to provide appropriate age specific care
Must have effective communication and teaching skills
General knowledge of various regulatory and accrediting standards
