We are recruiting for a Senior Technical Advisor to join our team in London, UK.
The Senior Technical Advisor for surveillance and data-informed decision-making will be an organisation expert in the following specialist areas:
Communicable diseases surveillance and response, in particular routine surveillance
Epidemiology of communicable diseases, in particular malaria epidemiology and malaria elimination
Data-informed decision-making approaches
Operations research design and implementation
The post-holder will be responsible for evidence-based technical assistance, strategic advice, thought leadership, research and programme design on surveillance and data-informed decision-making to guide the elimination of communicable diseases. The post-holder will provide technical support and be technically involved in specific projects and will be actively involved in organisational activities such as business areas and/or communities of practice. The post holder will lead the Business area on data-informed decision-making.
About You:
Malaria and Epidemiologist experience is required for this position. You will also have the following skills and experience:
Global health practitioner with first-hand experience in low and middle-income countries in surveillance and response, results measurement, data-informed decision-making and operations research
Postgraduate qualification in global/public health, epidemiology or related field
Experience in communicable disease control, in particular malaria
Health systems strengthening experience
Extensive international experience, with experience working in LMICs in Africa and/or Asia
Experience in applying quality improvement approaches or adaptive management
Experience working in a technical support capacity with Ministries of health, international agencies and Non-Governmental organisations
Experience working with key donors such as USAID/PMI/CDC, BMGF, Unitaid, GFATM, Unicef
Experience mentoring and strengthening the knowledge and skills of health workers in surveillance and response, and data-informed decision-making
Experience in a technical support role at mid to senior level
Experience in the development and use of databases and statistical analysis software such as EpiData, Access, STATA, R
