• Purpose of Job
  • The Stock Clerk Central Supply is responsible for providing supplies and equipment to patient floors and other areas throughout the hospital to ensure patient needs are met.

  • Education
    • High School diploma or General Educational Development (G.E.D.) required.
  • Experience
    • 6 months previous medical/surgical and inventory control experience preferred.
  • License/Certifications

  • Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
    • Strong verbal communication skills for positive interaction with staff and customers required.
    • Basic computer and handheld data entry skills preferred.
    • Basic medical terminology skills preferred.
    • Able to read, write, and comprehend various written reports and documents required.

• Essential Job Functions
  • Essential Functions I
    • Maintains adequate daily supply levels of medical supplies by placing supplies in establish par/supply location, completing the proper paperwork, and entering stocking information into the computerized ordering system to ensure par levels are met.
    • Delivers requested supplies to assigned Patient Care Units by following departmental procedures to ensure departments receive their items within established timeframes.
    • Cleans and collects patient equipment managed by the department by following departmental procedures and delivering equipment to the requesting units to maintain adequate stock for patient utilization.
    • Restocks the Central Supply area on a daily basis by rotating supplies and removing items near their expiration date from all locations to ensure all supplies are used within recommended timeframes.
    • Restocks the par locations by putting away supplies on the floors; collecting, returning, and crediting unused supplies from patient care units to ensure supplies are replaced back in inventory.
    • Communicates with Inventory Control Coordinator and Team Leader on out-of-date supplies to ensure that stock is rotated and/or replaced and monitored for patient safety.

    • Participates in mandatory in-services and/or CE programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies and as directed by management.
    • Follows and understands the mission, vision, core values, Employee Standards of Compassionate Care/AIDET and company policies/procedures.
    • Other duties as assigned.
