Our client is a joint venture partnership managing the construction of the highly prestigious HS2 rail infrastructure project. As the projects move towards it’s next phase, there is now a need for a dynamic Tunnel Engineer to join the technical services team.
As the Tunnel Engineer you be supporting the delivery of the works for the construction of the ancillary shaft and OOC tunnels for HS2. You will will manage and drive the engineering aspects of works, reviewing designs and aiding with the development and reporting of section programs and budgets and ensuring that the works are conducted in accordance with the project requirements including health and safety.
The scope of the role will include:
Support the Sub Agent(s) in planning and setting up the tunnels for construction.
Support the Construction Manager and Sub Agent with planning of the Tunnels and ventilation shafts.
Assist the Sub-Agent(s) in managing the construction engineering team for delivery to time, quality and budget of all detailed technical information necessary for the construction of the shafts and tunnels.
Work with the other Engineers to ensure their work is up to the required standard.
Manage and drive the engineering aspects of works, developing and reporting of section programmes and budgets and ensuring that the works are conducted in accordance with the project requirements including health and safety.
Engineering Degree / HNC or similar in a construction discipline.
IOSH or SMSTS desired, SSSTS minimum.
Tunnel Safety Training Scheme (TSTS).
Experience with tunnel construction techniques – as a guideline 2 years minimum desired.
